Baja Spain: Monterde took the chance to test technical solutions.

The Spaniard Jose Luis Monterde and his copilot, the Belgian Jean Marie Lurquin, finished the last stage of the Baja Spain 2006 without any technical problems. After the abandonment yesterday caused by engine-problems and the permission to start again today without taking part in the final classification, Monterde took the chance to continue testing new technical modifications of his BMW X-Raid X5.
"My goal was to reach a place on the podium" said Monterde, "but you never know what will be happen. So we took the chance to make kilometres of testing in the today´s 3rd stage. The car, in any case, has improved in many things after the Dakar Rally, especially in traction, in stability and even in speed. We are happy, that the Organisation of the Baja allowed us to test today - we only had to give away our bordcard to make sure, not to be rated." The next Rally for the Spaniard Monterde and his X-Raid BMW is the Pharaons Rally in October 2006.
