 Daewoo/Chevrolet/Holden Recall: 10,177 SUVs Captiva/Windstorm

| |
| Reuters reported that GM Daewoo Automotive and Technology Co., South Korea's third-largest auto maker, plans to recall 10,177 sports utility vehicles over a power steering defect, the transportation ministry and the company said on May 10th. The recall applies to GM Daewoo's first SUV, the Winstorm, which is sold overseas as the Captiva, produced between June 1 and Oct. 26 last year, the Ministry of Construction and Transportation said in a statement.
It did not say whether any accidents or injuries had yet been linked to the defect. A GM Daewoo spokesman said there was no report of accidents or injuries due to the defect. GM Daewoo has yet to tally the cost of the recall, he added. General Motors Corp. and partners took a majority stake in 2002 in some of assets of failed Daewoo Motor in 2002, creating unlisted GM Daewoo.
