Rainforest Challenge: The big rain came on Wednesday.

| |
| The event is called "Rainforest" Challenge and takes place during the raining season in Malaysia - nonetheless this year there had not been a single drop of rain during the trophy so far. This was about to change on Wednesday. After a short transfer stage through a dense jungle area and wide plains with banana plantations the trophy convoy set up a new camp. Two special stages had to be driven about 10 km deep in the jungle. On a small area cleared of big trees the participants had to go up a hill, winch down a steep river bank, cross a mud hole and go back up another hill.
In Malaysia the weather can change rapidly in a very short time frame - and exactly that happened after the two first cars had passed the stage. Some small falling drops quickly became a full blown shower, the winching hill got incredibly slippery and the small water stream grew into a brown river. Even on the easily drivable transport stages everyone tackled to reach his or her goal while only minutes before no one had problems at all.
As a result more than half of the participants did not start into the second special stage as big areas were now flooded. So after only a short amount of time the camp for the day was set up in a narrow deep crossing of several old logging tracks surrounded by 40m trees. The scenery reminded to being in the middle of a deep mountain lake that had no water in it.
That evening to compensate for the wet and short day the local Malaysians had a cheery evening with everyone singing. After some time half of the camp joined in and at least one member of each nation was "convinced" by the group to sing one song in their language under still dripping gigantic plants. After all in spite of a very wet sportive Wednesday everyone was in a good mood when falling asleep.
