Rainforest Challenge: Trophy 2006 starts with prologue.

| |
| With the first part of the prologue the Rainforest Challenge 2006 officially started on Saturday with the sports part of it. However not as hoped in or near the jungle but near the city Alor Star in the north of the country. Designed as an event for the general public and sponsors the prologue still kept a managable pace.
A night stage was added in the evening to get the participants accustomed to handling their verhicle in the dark while competing in a special section as night drives are going abundant during the next days. The prologue area was prepared by heavy machinery with a series of small hills and tricky water filled trenches. The rain of the past days added the required muddy note to the character of the special stages. If it was not for the high temperatures the scenery could have reminded you also to a place in Europe. There was no rain today for the first time in almost a week.
As a result all jungle enthusiasts still had to remain patient today, only a few muddy passages and water holes gave a slight impression of the things to come. For the numerous spectators and sponsors the day was a big event - finally seeing the event's "stars" in action of the in Asia well known Rainforest Challenge and taking home a good amount of action.
On the following Sunday the second part of the prologue has to be driven by the competitors until it finally goes into the long awaited jungle. To shorten the waiting time the pros willingly exchanged best practices with the newcomers. To give an example: "If you have to deal with apes attacking you and are really desperate try to look for scorpions in old trees or stumps. They won't attack you unless provokes but the apes are afraid of them." In the toughest region to be driven in not only snakes, scorpions and apes will be waiting but also elephants and tigers have been spotted.
